Who has this endless debate with friends or the other half: Where to meet and what eat?

I do, almost every night, OMG, FML haha.

So to set the scene, my GF Amanda works at the top end of town and I work on the quayside. It doesnโ€™t make sense to both move our cars from our respective parking spaces and have to both find new parking near the chosen restaurant. So we walk, eat, then walk back to our respective cars and drive home. As you can imagine we always debate (not argue) who has to walk the furthest to our chosen dinner destination. Or we debate/argue, the dinner destination in the first place haha.

Sick of this dilemma I decided to seek out a diplomatic solution. Use the map feature on the Snapsaver App to find the equidistant point between our two locations. Draw a circle with a 50m radius around it (sorry a 25m radius, her request), look for a good restaurant inside the circle and then set out to get them signed up to Snapsaver.

Enter The award winning City Tavern, with its Tudor facade and ye old country style interiors (bookshelves, chandeliers and exposed brickwork) it really ticked all the boxed for us.

The food: hearty pub grub, freshly prepared and served with a smile. What I Luv the most about the place is that they source the best local produce that the region has to offer. Including catch of the day fish and seafood from the markets at North Shields, Northumberland beef and local cheeses to name but a few. On our last visit, I had the 10oz aged Northumberland Rib Eye Steak with blue cheese sauce. The GF had a chargrilled chicken wrap fries and slaw, which I had to finish off because her eyes are bigger than her belly.

If my word isnโ€™t good enough for you, maybe these awards and accolades will do it for you.
